owner’s story

My first Chris Larkin bass. Ordered in spring 1992, April 15th, and built to my specs. Flamed maple slab-top in blue sunburst. Came with a humbucker-singlecoil-humbucker pickup layout, Citronic circuitry and three mini-toggle switches – humbuckers – humbucker/off/split and-single-coil – off/on. This one was my main instrument for about ten years going through some serious changes – Citronic removed, switching changed and a pickup change from humbucker to 5-string P90s. So now it has just a volume control and two Les Paul-style toggle-switches. The horizontal mounted switch (front) as switching neck and bridge P90, while the vertical mounted is switching the middle single-coil and and P90s switch. With this layout every combination of the three pickups is possible. Holes filled with Yew from a branch of the Yew tree in my parent’s garden.

It was picked up from Musikhaus Öllerer late in June 1992 and gigged the very next day in our graduation concert from school.

This one got my name written on the headstock.
