owner’s story

I got involved in double bass playing in 1998, so I was looking for a double bass with transportable size. After some research I decided to buy one of Chris’ Blen EBUs from Musikhaus Öllerer sometimes in spring 1998.

The Blen is equipped with a Highlander pickup. The original slotted bridge broke during a 2001 recording session and was replaced by a solid one.

I used the Blen on stage occasionally for many years for some acoustic songs.

This Blen is another member of the walnut gang – a bunch of instrument with walnut overlay timber all from the same walnut tree blown over in a stormy Irish night back in the 1980ies – including Chris’ personal electric guitar and my Reacter B5 Custom fretless.
